Engagement Sessions

November 19, 2009 | |

AMWPhotos includes engagement sessions in all of our packages and we have a blast doing them! We love getting to know our couples outside the hustle and bustle of your wedding day. Its a time for us to talk one on one, for us to hear about how you met, all the planning you’re putting in to your special day as well as any expectations you may have for your wedding day. Wedding days can be very hectic, engagement sessions are a great way to break the ice so to speak so that when we arrive on your wedding day it doesn’t feel like we’re meeting for the very first time.
While Matt and I are interacting with you during your engagement session we are taking time to figure out what your like in front of the camera; what the best angles are, what makes you two laugh and what makes you uncomfortable so that we can really make the most of our time with you on your wedding day.

Most importantly the session is a great way to take some time away from the sometimes stressful planning and walk away with a ton of playful, beautiful photos!

You can do some pretty cool things with these photographs beside just having them to frame and hang on your walls. Hear are a few ideas;

Use them on your Wedding Website

Announcements for the local newspaper

Guestbooks: AMWPhotos offers custom designed albums laid out in such a way that guests can write their names and notes of congratulations on the pages next to these beautiful photographs. This is a great way to combine your photographs with messages from people you care about

Invitations or Save The Dates

The list goes on with many ways to incorporate them in to your wedding reception or gifts for your guests.

Just a couple quick tips to make the most of your engagement sessions; Try to plan your engagement session on the same day as the trial run for your hair/makeup, wear something that reflects who you are; don’t feel like you have to get dressed up if you’re more of a t-shirt and jeans type of person also don’t feel like the two of you have to match perfectly. The location is up to you, we suggest picking a location that means something to you.

We encourage all of our couples to take advantage of our engagement sessions included in our wedding collections!

Mike + Matt – Hamilton Hall, Salem

November 9, 2009 | |

This fall I had the pleasure of photographing Mike and Matt’s wedding in beautiful Salem, Ma at Hamilton Hall. The ceremony was very intimate and took place in the garden across the street from Hamilton Hall. Mike and Matt were such fun to photograph and I wanted to share a few of my favorite photographs of them!

AMWPhotos Has a Facebook Account!

November 5, 2009 | |

I’ve been told over and over again that for photographers, social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn are such good ways to attract visitors to your website. I’ve been avoiding Facebook because it was just one more thing that I would have to stay up to date with; today however I broke down and set AMWPhotos up with an account. I’m actually a little bit excited, I think it will be a fun way to share our latest weddings and engagement sessions with family, friends as well as our wonderful couples.

A Little Bit About Us

November 3, 2009 | |

The most common response we hear after telling people that we’re wedding photographers is one of jealousy, people exclaim how wonderful it must be to work from home, allowing us to be around our son constantly. It is a mixed blessing, even though we have designated mommy work times (when daddy is playing with Aydon) and daddy work times ( when mommy is playing with Aydon) the other parent often gets coerced into playing as well. Despite some of the difficulties, I wouldn’t trade any moment of it for a 9-5 job.

Back in August we made the move from downtown Boston up to gorgeous Gloucester, Ma on the North Shore. It’s so quiet compared to the bustle of Kenmore Square and Fenway Park which was heard all night coming through the windows of our apartment. Before moving to Boston to study at New England School of Photography both Matt and I were avid hikers, climbers and all around outdoor enthusiasts. Over the last few years living in the city its easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the city, moving to Gloucester has reminded us to get outside as much as possible. When Matt and I aren’t editing images, looking at other photographers work for inspiration, working on marketing, staying up to date with the latest releases or blogging, we are outside enjoying the fresh air with our son.

I think I’ve written quite enough to bore anyone so I will leave you with some of my favorite photos from our latest adventures….
