Happy New Year!!!

What a wonderful year 2011 has been for Matt and I!! Between March and November we photographed 31 amazing weddings, countless engagement and trash the dress sessions, as well as embarking on some new photography ventures (more on that in the coming months)! We are so very thankful to all of our clients and friends who trust us to document such important moments in their lives and in turn allow us to live our dream!

Over the coming months we have lot’s of new projects to work on and goals we are setting to have 2012 be an even more fun and successful year! We look forward to sharing more with you!!

Meg and Dave Married | A Rockport, MA Destination Wedding

Back in July I received a call from Meg who described Dave and her plans to have a very small and intimate fall wedding in Rockport, MA. Their wedding sounded wonderful and I crossed my fingers that Matt and I would end up being their photographers! So needless to say, after we met with them three days later and they decided that they’d like us to be their photographers, we were thrilled! Their day didn’t disappoint, the weather was perfect, the Captain’s House Bed and Breakfast where they held their ceremony and cocktail hour is right on the ocean and just beautiful! Dave’s 7 year old daughter, Lena, helped Meg get ready which was super cute. It was really important to Meg and Dave that we had plenty of time to get some awesome portraits of just the two of them so Meg made sure to leave time in between the ceremony and when everyone headed to dinner for just that. I think we succeeded in getting some great images of these two!

Before I share some of our favorite images, I can’t help but share (With Meg and Dave’s permission) the email we received from them the night we sent their slideshow along. Emails like this remind us how truly wonderful our “job” is!

Hi Matt and Ariel,

We are speechless.

We opened the link very late last night and we kid you not, I think we watched it sixteen times, and cried all the way through the entire thing. We were expecting to have a few wonderful photos–but instead, you put together this incredibly thoughtful, moving, and totally inspired montage, filled with the best pictures either of us has ever seen. We were just bowled over at your talent and how you captured the feeling of the day, and how you illustrated all these random and wonderful moments–many of which we were not conscious of ourselves, as they were happening. Your talents are not just in the technical aspects of what you do, and not just in capturing beautifully composed images, but also with making people feel comfortable–so comfortable that they are not truly aware that you are working hard every second to document events and emotions. All that on top of the fact that you are both so awesome to spend time with as people!

We really just don’t know what to say, except thank you so much for this.

We can’t wait to see more and will have the box of Kleenex standing by…..

Emily and Adam Engaged | Walden Pond and Charlestown Navy Yard Engagement Session

Matt and I met up with Emily and Adam earlier this fall for their engagement session. We started off the session at Walden Pond out in Concord, MA, if you haven’t been there you should definitely check it out sometime! There’s a beautiful walking trail the circles the entire pond, lot’s of people kayak/swim during the summer time, We’ll definitely be going back to play (without our cameras)!

After we spent some time in the woods, we all headed to the Charlestown Navy Yard for some pictures. Adam lived right next to the Navy Yard when Emily and him first started dating so what better place to go back to for some images! The light was perfect by the time we got to Charlestown and parked, we had a blast wandering along the harbor and getting some awesome images with the ships and city in the background.

Hanging out with these two got us even more excited for their wedding next September at the gorgeous Crane Estate in Ipswich, MA!

Lot’s more weddings and engagement sessions to come, for now I hope you enjoy some of our favorites!

Kristen | Trash the Dress Session | Arnold Arboretum

I still have yet to post the images from Kristen and Chris’s summer wedding at the Millennium Hotel in Boston but I really couldn’t bear to with-hold a few of our favorite images from Kristen’s Trash the Dress session that we shot this past Saturday! We get a lot of questions from brides (and grooms!) about what a trash the dress session is; the main questions being “do I have to actually ruin my dress” or “is it just the bride or the couple together”… The simple answer is that there are no rules!! Our trash the dress sessions (Or Day-After sessions) are a great chance to get back in your wedding attire and get some awesome images of the two of you together (or just you!). A lot of times on the wedding day our time with just the couple can get rushed and although we still get some great images of the two of you, there might not be enough time to get as much variety as we’d like! We have a lot of couples who got married in the city and want some images out in nature or vice versa… Got married outside of Boston and are dying to get some urban, chic images in the city. The day after session is a great time to do that! For Matt and I it’s the prime time to get to play with lighting techniques and posing ideas we’ve been dying to try. We tend to approach these sessions more like we would a fashion or editorial shoot, we’ve been really happy with the results! We’re really excited that this is gaining popularity with our clients!!

Anyways, enough of my rambling, here are just a couple of our favorites :)

Beth and Jonah Married | Museum of Science Wedding | Boston Wedding Photography

You might remember these guys from their engagement session that we photographed earlier in the year. They got married on an absolutely gorgeous weekend in September at the beautiful Museum of Science, all of their friends and family were amazing. It was such a fun wedding to be a part of!!
